Tales from Teddy Corner

This term's topic is Lincolnshire Life - Now and Then. We will be celebrating everything that is wonderful about Lincolnshire and have already been captivated by the antics of the Lincoln Imp! We will be visiting the Museum of Lincolnshire Life on Tuesday 20th September. Further details of the trip will follow shortly.

P.E kit will be needed for a Tuesday and Thursday. Please could you check all kit is clearly named. Thank you.

There is very much an emphasis on reading this term, which will incorporate many speaking and listening opportunities.

On Wednesday 14th September we will be watching a performance of The Book of Dreams.

On Friday 30th September the children will be invited to come to school dressed as a Roald Dahl character as part of The Dahlicious Dress Up Day.

Children's Book Week runs from the 3rd to 9th of October.

Year 1 and 2 will be set spellings to learn on a Monday ready for the following Friday. Look, say, cover, write and check is a strategy the children are familiar with for learning new words.

In Numeracy there will be an emphasis on place value when positioning numbers on a number line and knowing what each digit in a two or three-digit number represents. We are also focusing on mental calculations.

REMINDER - You are warmly invited to our Best Work assemblies held on a Friday which celebrate achievements big and small!

Last term we started sending home maths challenges and because these were welcomed it will continue. Maths activities will be sent out via book bags on a Wednesday and need to be handed in the following Monday. They should be put in the red tray labelled Homework.
