Newton Text Curriculum
We have carefully chosen texts for the whole of children's 7 years with us to be age appropriate, meet the needs of the National Curriculum and allow children to explore wider themes, linked to our 6 topics. This approach will allow children to 'Aim High and Enjoy the Journey' as they learn how they can apply and use the skills of English and take lessons from the texts they read, giving them every opportunity to flourish. Children will explore issues such as pollution, poverty, being a refugee, social inequality, how to bring hope, how they can promote positive change in others and how they can be everyday heroes. These themes are linked as closely as possible to the wider curriculum, so children can overlap their learning, have context for learning and are able to use vocabulary in different ways. By linking the curriculum, we have tried to provide context and meaning to make learning feel relevant and engaging.
